As the Indiana University-United Way fundraising drive approaches the end of the year, supporters rally with their colleagues in the spirit of the giving season. As of December 4, IU Bloomington employees and retirees have raised $457,455, which is 64% of the $710,000 goal for the 2023 campaign.
Donations to United Way bring together a community of supporters to fund local programs that help struggling families and individuals move from poverty to possibility. In 2022, United Way invested over $2 million to create lasting change in South Central Indiana.
In addition to supporting 23 partner agencies, United Way of South Central Indiana serves community members though their Emergency Food and Shelter Program, the Free Community Tax Service, and other financial empowerment programs. Together, United Way and partner agencies employ IU students in over 300 hourly paid positions, more than 150 internships, and work with upwards of 1000 volunteers to advance students’ experiential learning opportunities.
Faculty and staff can donate online with e-Pledge through a one-time donation or payroll deduction by December 13. Every gift counts and helps United Way address the region’s greatest needs.
