Indiana University Bloomington employees came together to help rebuild a resilient community where friends and neighbors can weather life’s storms and thrive. A total of 1,027 donors contributed $766,740 to United Way of Monroe County’s 2022-2023 fundraising campaign, Rebuild Communities, Rebuild Hope.
These contributions surpassed the campaign goal of $720,000, and donors raised $73,884 more than in the previous year’s campaign. IU Bloomington donations made up 69% of United Way of Monroe County’s fundraising total, making an incredible impact on the community.
Within our community, one out of every three people are supported by United Way of Monroe County. In addition to providing services like the Free Community Tax Service, the organization supports 23 member agencies that provide important services like emergency shelter, nutritious meals, affordable childcare, and more.
A donation to United Way of Monroe County makes a direct difference in the lives of people in need. Just $1 per week provides one night of shelter to a family experiencing homelessness, $2 per week provides five flu shots to low-income patients, and $10 per week provides a student with one-on-one tutoring for a year.
The IU United Way was made possible by the continued support of dedicated donors, volunteers, and the IU Bloomington community. Learn more here about the United Way campaign and how to get involved.
